My clothes

I always dress very elegant and trendy for my job of the Queen. In these portraits I’m wearing a fashionable, tight, white and woolen bodia with puffy sleever and an awesome, baggy white and woolen farthingale; all embroidered with golden thread and with beautiful gems and with an enormous and elegant cross on the breast. I’m also wearing an extravagant, long, white with black spots, four cloack and a trendy, puffy, white, linen ruff. I normaly wear different jewels, a fashionable, short, white, pearl pendant and many awesome, tight, white, pearl or diamond bracelets. I’m also wearing a comfortable, tight, sliver, silk head-dress with gorgeous gems or if I have an official act I wear a valuable, little, silver and golden, metal royal crown with diamonds and pearls. 

Mi aparincia

Me llamo Adelina II Cortés; tengo 43 años, es decir, estoy en la edad adulta. Soy bastante alta y como mujer estoy por encima la media, también soy esbelta y sana porque entre preparar la boda de mi hijo, hacer reuniones y pasear con mis amigos, no paro nunca y estoy todo el día muy activa. Tengo el cabello muy rizado, voluptuoso como una col, castaño y con el tiempo se me ha vuelto sedoso. Como no me gusta llevarlo suelto, siempre me hago un recogido que normalment es un moño despeinado y bien alto. También cuando tengo actos importantes o reuniones llevo puesta la diadema o la corona real Portuguesa. Mi cara es más bien redonda pero muy fresca y dulce, con la piel pálida; nada bronceada y con la frente ancha, donde me empiezan a salir arrugas por culpa de mi edad y del estrés que comporta ser Reina. Tengo los ojos del color de la miel, almendrados, sin ser achinados, y muy despiertos, ya que siempre están atentos; con las pestañas muy cortas y las cejas arqueadas y delgadas. La nariz es ancha y da el efecto como si fuera chata pero en cambio es recta; debajo de ella destaca mi diminuta boca con los labios estrechos y rojos que al sonreír se convierte en una amplia sonrisa donde se pueden ver los dientes bien alineados; cosa extraña y bastante inusual en la época. Las orejas las tengo pequeñas y redondas, tapadas con el cabello y mis mejillas son rollizas como del color del tomate. Tengo el cuello largo y elegante y en él siempre llevo un colgante para que se vea más fino. Las manos son firmes y rechonchas pero con unos finos y ágiles dedos. Siempre llevo las piernas bien tapadas ya que no me gustan porque son delgadas y enclenques y no van en proporción con el resto del cuerpo, como la cintura, que es estrecha, pero en cambio, tengo unos amplios hombros y unos grandes pies.

El meu dia a dia

El meu dia, com que sóc la Reina de Portugal,comença ben d’hora. Ben vestida, em disposo a esmorzar: raïm, meló,pa i per arrodonir-ho una copa de vi, preparat tot per la meva serventa. Sempreesmorzo acompanyada del meu fill, el Príncep Enrique i aprofitem per posar-nos al dia de les novetats reials i personals.

Durant el matí compleixo amb les meves obligacions. Faig les reunions amb els integrants de la Cort de Justícia per estar al corrent del funcionament dels altres regnes i tot seguit em reuneixo amb el Príncep i el coronel de l’exèrcit per mirar de solucionar els conflictes de Portugal i aconseguir que no entri en guerra contra Espanya. Després de dinar arròs amb pèsols, figues i un tros de formatge curat; passo la tarda amb l’Abadessa del Convent del Carmo, on vaig a confessar-me i a pregar, també passegem pel claustre i el jardí i aprofito per explicar-li les noves decisions, ja que és la meva persona de confiança i m’aconsella.

Per acabar el dia, l’Abadessa ve a sopar al castell; un gran bufet compost per cabrit al forn, peix amb suc, bledes... Mentrestant un petit grup de teatre ens representa una petita obra. Tot seguit me’n vaig al llit per l’endemà poder començar un altre laboriós dia. 

My personality

I'm Adelina II Cortès, the Queen of Portugal. I’m very sophisticated because I am the Queen and always I have meetings with important people. I’m quite dishonest as sometimes I don’t say to my son, the Prince, the concerns and problems that we have not to enter in war. I’m rather snobbish as I am the Queen and I control all the lands of Portugal and I like to order my servants, my political assistants and all the inhabitants of Lisbon. I’m also bad-tempered when I can’t control the nobles of Lisbon and the different problems. For example when the Abbess told me that the noble family Castelo wanted to kill me. I’m very friendly when I stay with my family or with my best friend, the most important Abbess of Lisbon, and we talk about my family, her problems and we eat together but I’m serious when I realize my job as a Queen and held meetings with my political assistants.

My appearance

My name is Adelina II Cortès and I'm the Queen of Portugal; I live in San Jorge Castle, in Lisbon, with my son and my servants. I’m a widow, I was married with my husband, the King of Portugal but he died one year after Portugal could be independent and the throne was pased on to me and later to our son, the Prince Enrique. I’m a good Queen as I can control all the concerns and problems of Portugal to prevent us from going to a war. My best friend is the Abbess Noèmia, who is my trusted people. 
I’m an adult, as I’m in my late fifties, although I look younger. I’m fairly tall for a woman, so I’m above average and I’m quite slim without plumps as between preparing my son's wedding, meeting with my politicians assistants and go for a walk with the abbess; I never stop.  My hair is medium-length, frizzy and hazel with a bun and I wear the elegant royal headband. My face is oval with fair complexion and with chubby cheeks and some wrinkles on the forehead due to my age and the stress. My eyes are almond-shaped and dark with thin eyebrows and short eyelashes. My mouth is small but I have a wide smile with thin lips and aligned teeth. My nose is wide and quite snub. My hands are chubby with long and thin fingers. I’m small-eared and long-necked.
